Green home builder is one of only eight companies across the country to receive recognition

St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 25, 2011… St. Louis-based Consort Homes, the largest certified green builder in Missouri, was recently recognized by national home builder organization Builder Partnerships for delivering one of the highest levels of customer service in the home building industry. Builder Partnerships focuses on strengthening relationships, improving communication and providing educational opportunities for builders, manufacturers and others within the home building industry. The organization presented Consort Homes with the first annual Achievement Award for Highest Distinction in customer satisfaction during the recent International Builders Show in Orlando, Fla. Consort was one of eight home building companies to receive this top honor and the only winning home builder located in the St. Louis area.

“The Builder Partnerships Achievement Award in customer satisfaction recognizes those companies that have the ability to deliver what is most important to homebuyers – quality construction and a great buying experience,” said Monica Wheaton, CEO of Builder Partnerships. “Consort Homes certainly fits that bill.”

For its inaugural Achievement Award, Builder Partnerships collaborated with Woodland, O’Brien & Associates to conduct an independent customer satisfaction survey. Those builders that had at least 93 percent of their homebuyers within the past year say they were willing to refer the company to friends or families were recognized in the Highest Distinction in Customer Satisfaction category. More than 350 builders were nominated for the award.

“We are proud to be one of only a few home builders to receive this award from Builder Partnerships,” says Ken Stricker, CEO of Consort Homes. “The service rating we received is a testament to our commitment to customer service and solidifies what customers already know – that Consort Homes provides quality homes and is the only builder for them.”

Last year, Consort closed on 84 homes, which was a 50 percent increase from 2009, and the company expects to see a 25 percent increase in growth in 2011. The company has 14 communities under development in the Missouri communities of Arnold, Chesterfield, Creve Coeur, Dardenne Prairie, Florissant, Imperial, Lake St. Louis, St. Charles, St. Peters and Wentzville. Approximately 600 sites are available for sale across the metro area

“Our emphasis on customer service is a key element to long-term success,” noted Ed Petras, Director of Sales and Marketing at Consort Homes. “The recognition we received is a validation of the quality people we have doing a quality job, while providing a great customer experience, and it’s important for us that our company doesn’t lose sight of that.”

On this cold wintery day I’d like to share my own personal favorite recipe.  I found it in the Dierbergs recipe catalog a few years ago and have since made my own revisions.  The beauty of this recipe is you don’t have to follow it!  You can use however much of each ingredient as you would like to taste.

1 package (1 pound) Sweet Italian sausage
2 cups shredded carrot
1 cup chopped onion
1 large green bell pepper, quartered, seeded, and chopped
4 cups water
2 cans (14 ounces each) beef broth OR  (I use one can of chicken broth and 1 can of beef broth)
1 can (15.5 ounces) Dierbergs kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 teaspoon Italian herb seasoning (I use The Melting Pot’s Garlic and Wine Seasoning.  This makes the recipe complete) http://www.meltingpot.com/shoppe.aspx?c=3
2 cups (1/2 of 16-ounce package) frozen cheese tortellini
Grated parmesan cheese

Heat large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Crumble sausage into pan; cook stirring occasionally until sausage is browned, about 5 to 6 minutes. Drain off any fat. Add carrot, onion, and bell pepper; cook stirring occasionally until vegetables are tender, about 3 minutes. Add water, broth, beans, and seasoning; bring to a boil. Add tortellini; return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until pasta is tender, about 5 minutes. Ladle into serving bowls and garnish with parmesan.

Great job to Kris and Jeff at Countryshire for continuing to give our customers nothing but the best service through being professional, friendly and easy to talk to!  What a great compliment that a customer would take the time to send a letter to our CEO & President.

Thank you Colleen for your kinds words below.  We really do appreciate your business.

Hello,

I just wanted to write a quick email to tell you what a great job both Kris and Jeff have done to make building our home such a pleasurable experience! From day one Kris has been awesome, she didn’t beat around the bush like some sales managers do, and she has always been very professional and easy to talk to.  It was a joy working with her!

We had a TERRIBLE experience the last time we built a home and didn’t have very high hopes coming into this process again, because we figured that is just how the business was. Boy, were we wrong! We were so impressed that Jeff took the time to go over everything with us at the pre construction meeting and he even gave us his cell phone number! You can tell he really wants this to be a great experience for us.

We are so confident that we are going to get a BEAUTIFUL home with quality people involved at every aspect that really take pride in their work.  We just cannot wait for it to be done now!

If you ever need a satisfied homeowner’s reference, please feel free to contact me at any time!

Respectfully,

Colleen

As part of a school beautification service project at Discovery Ridge Elementary a planting day was organized for October 22nd.  Several business donated plant material and mulch.  Consort Homes donated two flowering pear trees which were planted in front of the school.   Kris Sewing, a Community Sales Manager at Consort, volunteered to plant and work with the kids.  The counselor and principal selected twelve children from grades 1-5 to assist with the service project.  They stripped the sod around the flag pole, planted rose bushes and grasses then mulched the entire area.  The trees were then planted later.

Thank you to Chandra Fessler Interiors, Baxter West Gardens, Classic Landscapes and our very own Countryshire Homeowners for your donations to Discovery Ridge Elementary to help make this happen!

And the favorite features of Consort built homes are…

Through Facebook, MyConsortHome recently asked homeowners what their favorite features are in their own Consort built home.  We received some great and very helpful responses through our Facebook post.

Jenna from Newport won a $500.00 visa gift card through a random drawing just for posting what her favorite feature was!!   Jenna said “I LOVE my Juniper in Newport Meadow. We have such an open floor plan and I love my huge master bedroom. The nieghbors are great too.”

Here are some other things our homeowners had to say about their homes;

“I love the low electric and gas bills that come every month because of the bronze level of “green” Consort built into our home. It’s big piece of the Consort quality pie.” -Diane

“We love that we are able to have two living rooms since we have our bonus room upstairs :) we also love that every bedroom has a walk in closet! There honestly isn’t much we don’t love about our home :)” -Colleen

“ I love my Norfolk in Newport Meadow. Warm cozy rooms, great open floor plan huge garage. I really like the way my kitchen opens to the family room.” -Sharon

“We just moved in our Windsor in Stone Creek. All our neighbors are great! We love our window walls and how open the floor plan is. Everything flows nicely. We looked at several home builders before deciding on Consort. I feel we made the right decision. Everyone we have dealt with has been great. We look forward to many years in our new Consort home.” -Mark

“I like my open floor plan on my Sierra. Spacing between our houses is great we are not right on top of each other. Also living in Stone Creek is the subdivision to live in if you like great neighbors and having fun.” -Jamie

“We love the fact that our master bedroom is on the main level in the Cortland. We also love the closet being in the bathroom.” -Melissa

“It is so hard to say I have a favorite feature of my CONSORT home as I have many….from the very beginning of the purchase process to now after one and a half years living in my new home. The sales personnel and building superviser could not have been nicer or more helpful. I have the Madison and love everything about it …the 9 ft ceilings, wood floor, open floor plan with still having private areas and the window wall overlooking beautiful trees. Another great plus was during the 3 month, 9 month, and 12 month walk throughs, there was nothing that had to be corrected ! The construction of this home has been superb. I love my Madison home and would recommend it and CONSORT HOMES to everyone ! Come see Countryshire. It’s a wonderful place to call home.” -Debbie

“We love our Windsor at Stone Creek. The huge kitchen is my favorite room in the house and I love how it is open to the family room. It is perfect for entertaining! Also, we love this community and couldn’t have asked for better neighbors.” -Jennifer

“LOVE my Windsor at Stone Creek. I love the spacious floor plan and the bonus room upstairs allows me to keep the downstairs presentable while enjoying cozy living space upstairs. STONE CREEK HAS THE BEST NEIGHBORS, TOO (maybe because our spacious lots allow a buffer – LOL)! I can’t speak highly enough about the subdivision. ALso, Consort’s product is second to none, plus their customer service is detail oriented and client focused.” -Brenda

“We are building a madison in countryshire, which will be finished next month! Our favorite feature of the house is the window wall and the bay in the back. It makes the house feel so open, even more so then it already is :) We are looking forward to the move, because it is our dream home that we never thought we could afford!” -Michelle

“My husband and I are building the Andover model in Countryshire. One of our favorite features of the Andover is the fact that the rooms are large and spacious. However, what we love most is the idea that Consort is using green technologies… to make the home not only look great, but last longer and save us money on our heating and cooling costs in the future. With the rise of energy costs in the past 2 years, this is something we wanted to make a priority when we decided to move out of our current home. We have always wanted to build a home that was more energy efficient. Thank you Consort for taking part in the green movement and allowing us to do this. We look forward to moving in to our new home!” -Maria

“We love our Cortland @ stone creek , great space in the home and keeps the kids upstairs with their own space . Love the quality of the build and the fact that it was built with union labor , being a tradesman myself that was a great selling point for my family . Our neighborhood is filled with great people and a lot of kids who I’m sure will have a lot of fun growing up together and us parents have a blast as well.” -Kurt

“I’m in Newport Meadow (Norfolk home) and remember looking for a year at homes to build. We are in the country but close to town. Every time I pull up to my home, I still get that I love my house feeling. Built with good bones and 4 years later I still have that new home feeling. Would do it all over again (and just may when it comes time to downsize to a ranch).” -Sharon

Green Tip #1: Unclog Your Drain Naturally!!!

Unclog Your Drain Naturally

Do you ever complain about hair in your drain clogging up the shower?  Solve it with green power Pain in the Drain

If you are a person with shoulder length or long hair, you are probably familiar with removing hair from the shower drain. Unfortunately, hair will still find its way down the drain and eventually lead to a clog. Instead of rushing to the store to buy volatile unclogging chemicals or calling the plumber, simply use the following advice.

•One of the best solutions is prevention. There are various inexpensive products offered by many retailers such as drain protectors that will keep your drain clog-free.

•Unclog the drain yourself. To safely do this, pour ¾ cup of dry baking soda down the drain followed by ½ cup of vinegar. Immediately plug the drain with a cloth or rubber stopper and wait 35-40 minutes. Pull out the cloth or stopper and pour a pot of boiling water down the drain.

•Avoid the arsenal of industrial cleaners. Powerful commercial cleaners such as lye can cause harm to your health, the wastewater stream, and PVC pipes. Furthermore, when lye is mixed with acid it can wreak havoc on your bathroom.

•Purchase non-toxic uncloggers. Companies such as Drainbo offer unclogging cleaners made from all-natural ingredients and enzymes. Although these products are generally a bit more expensive, they will eliminate the need to use extremely caustic chemical cleaners.
